Associations in Västerås
At Mälardalen university there are program associations and student associations whose goals are to make your school years the best possible.
The program associations are bound to different educational programs and are run by volunteering students. They work with educational affairs and arrange study social activities. They also have an important role in introducing new students to the university.
The student associations are not bound to any educational program, they are open for everyone to join. They work with arranging sport activities, parties or with educating about safe sex. When you are settled with your new life as a student you can also engage to make the student life better for you and your co-students!
The teacher programs in Västerås and the language and communication program
Welcome to the program association ALF in Västerås, which originally stood for All Teachers’ Association. Today, we are a great mix of all teaching programs as well as the language and communication program in Västerås. We are a warm and familiar association that loves to socialize and come up with fun things. We stand for everyone’s equal value and want you to feel welcome with us. We have an incredibly cozy board and a whole heap of active faddrar and generals who take care of our rookies. As a rookie in one of these programs, you can become a member with us by filling out this google document (it costs nothing, of course) so check out our channels and see what we’re up to right now!
Behavioral science program in Västerås
Beware is the program association that consists of all students studying the behavioral science program at Mälardalen University in Västerås. The program is for you who are interested in people and how we function in different social contexts. In Beware, we want to form a good cohesion through community to make the study time as good as possible. By helping each other and having fun in the meantime, we create a safe environment together. Within our association, it is important that we treat each other with respect, openness and understanding, regardless of who you are. We make sure that everyone is included so that no one is left out. Beware Västerås is characterized by red ovvar that we wear during the rookie period and other events, among other things. We also have a mascot named Berit, which you can see in the picture below, who must always be treated with respect.
Computer Science and Network Technology
DALO is the program association for the following: the computer science program, the master’s program in network engineering, computer networks and data communication, the master’s program in embedded systems and the master’s program in software engineering.
Engineer in construction technology
Förenade Byggingenjörer (FBI) is the line association for future, current and former construction engineers at Mälardalen University in Västerås.
Public health science program
Folke is the program association of the Public Health Sciences program at Mälardalen University in Västerås. As of autumn 2020, the university has decided to redo the program with a focus on lifestyle and social sustainable development. This training is for anyone who is interested in creating conditions for other people’s health and well-being.
By starting to study on the Public Health Sciences program, you also get the chance to join our fantastic program association Folke. At the beginning of your started studies, you then get to participate in something called the rookie period, where we in the association have arranged lots of fun events, everything from parties to challenges. We are the green beautiful people who go around singing about our fantastic and nice mascot Vramner all day, why not join in a dance or song?
You will receive an email from our faddrar upon admission to your education where you will receive all information about the rookie period.
International Marketing Program
IMF, the association of which the International Marketing Program is a part.
An association that also feels like a small family. Our goal is for our members to feel a sense of belonging outside of their studies and to supplement them with other important factors that are part of student life. For example, networking with both companies and private individuals, activities outside the school desk (both sporting, entertaining and rewarding) and an extraordinary community.
The robotics program and Technical mathematics
LTD, or the line association for Applied Computer Technology, is the program association for you who are studying for a Master’s degree in Robotics or the Master’s program in Technical Mathematics. We are best characterized by our purple ovvar and our strong and beautiful singing. During the first weeks of your studies, you get to participate in something called the Rookie Period, where we in the association organize lots of fun activities, sit-ins and parties, etc. for the new students to get to know each other and older students. So if you’ve been accepted to one of these programs, keep an eye out in your email for an invitation for a chance like this you only get once in a lifetime!

Civil engineering program in Reliable Systems
Hello and welcome to M.A.C.H. We’re a pretty small association, but we still have a hell of a lot of fun!
Computer association for students
Mälardalen Datorförening (MDF) is the association where you can generally hang out, play games and meet other geeky people! We are also Mälardalen’s Student Union’s IT department.
Sports association for students
This is a SAIF & RF-affiliated non-profit independent sports association for students and employees at Mälardalen University in Västerås, as well as other people interested in sports in the surrounding area.
Analytical finance, the economics program and international business management
Mälekon is a non-profit program association at Mälardalen University that manages all talents studying the Economics program, Analytical Finance or the International Business Management program.
The association’s goal is to increase cohesion between the economics students at the school and to facilitate the students’ situation during their studies, both in terms of education and social life in and outside the school.
The association also wants to work to strengthen the attractiveness of the graduated economists both on the labor market and in society in general.
Energy systems and Energy technology
PPM stands for perpetuum mobile and can be entered into Google Translate for the dedicated. The association was founded in 1983 and is the oldest at the school. If more information is required, the reader is asked to click on the attached link to the website.
Theater association for students
An independent, open and unbound non-profit association with a great interest in humour, theatre, joy and laughter!
The political science program
STATO is the program association for political science students at Mälardalen University, and is an independent student association with the goal of representing and promoting the members’ academic and social interests.
The physiotherapist program
Stretch is the physiotherapist program’s program association in Västerås. It is a three-year course with intake in both the autumn and spring semesters. During the rookie period, you see us exuberantly happy in pink overalls. In addition to all the wonderful courses included in the program, we have a board that arranges its own courses and lectures with people who are knowledgeable in that particular field. We on the board also organize various types of events, such as parties and various sports. A membership in our association lasts the entire period of study and contributes to priority access to courses and reduced prices to events.
The nursing and midwifery program in Västerås
VIPS is the program association for nursing students at Mälardalen University in Västerås, in addition to the basic training to become a nurse, we also represent/act as a contact route for students who study further education linked to the nursing education.
The VIPS board collaborates with the Student Union, the academy and our members as well as the industry to maintain a study-promoting environment, where the quality and design of the education is often discussed. VIPS also organizes social events to promote student life and camaraderie and participates in Rookie periods so that new students get the best possible start to their education.
