Welcome to Mälardalen university! On this page you find information about your first weeks as a student, everything about the rookie period (introductions).
The rookie period constitutes the first weeks of your study time. It is organized by us at the student union together with the line and student associations at the university and is packed with fun activities. The purpose is for you to get to know your classmates and quickly get into the community.
The rookie period is full of activities to suit everyone. There are parties, game nights, hanging out with trade unions and competitions of various kinds. Attend everything – attend something. You choose yourself and are welcome regardless!
If you participate in the rookie period, it is important to know that we have a policy document that contains rules, approaches and policies regarding the rookie period and its participants. This is there to create a safe and welcoming rookie period for you as a new student. You can read the document here or ask your fadders or the student union if you feel unsure. Anyone who violates the policy risks being suspended from the rookie period.

2. Attend the introduction days
A few days before the semester starts there are planned activities and lectures to welcome you to the university. We also have our intro fairs on each campus where you can mingle with companies from the cities and the line associations.
3. Become a member at Mälardalen student union
Become a member at the student union to max out your study time. We help you with student influence, connections to business life and your student social life. Become a member now!
4. Participate in the rookie period
During the rookie period there is something for everyone. Parties, sittings, competitions, pub rounds, movie nights, game nights and karaoke are just to name a few examples.
During some of the activities we take a small fee for entrance, but of course our members get discounts on everything we arrange. Make sure to participate at the rookie period and make in unforgettable!

Expedition desk
The student unions expedition desk is both in Västerås and Eskilstuna. During the rookie period our opening hours might change.
